What's New In Figure Skating: 2006 Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen, attempting to return to competitive figure skating after a three-year absence, said Friday that she will not compete at the this week's Cancer.Net Skate America at Lake Placid, N.Y., because of tendonitis in her right calf. "I have been battling this injury for awhile," Cohen said in a statement through the U.S. Figure Skating Association. "After meeting with my orthopedic surgeon, it was determined that in order for me to fully recover, I should not compete this week." Cohen, a six-time U.S. medalist, is training for the 2010 AT&T U.S. Figure Skating Championships to be held Jan. 14-24, 2010, at Spokane, Wash. Skaters will be chosen to compete 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games following nationals. ... Ice dancers Madison and Keiffer Hubbell, 2008 junior national champions, are switching from Ann Arbor, Mich., to the Detroit Skating Club in order to train with coaches Pasquale Camerlengo, Angelika Krylova, Elizabeth Swallow and Natalia Deller, they announced Nov. 2. The Hubbells placed fourth in the senior division at the 2009 nationals.
