Founded and produced by Olympic champion and beloved figure skating icon Scott Hamilton, the Emmy-Award-winning Stars on Ice tour is the only family entertainment event show of its kind in America. The 40-city national tour begins on Nov. 29 with a preview performance in Lake Placid, N.Y., which will be televised nationally on NBC, Jan. 4. This show will be followed by a cross-country tour that starts on Jan. 23 in Spokane, Wash., and concludes on Apr. 11 in Portland, Maine. In the year leading up to the 2010 Winter Games, skating fans will not find a better preview of America's favorite Olympic sport.
Cohen and these incredibly talented guest skaters will be joined by an outstanding cast of Olympic, world and national champions including world champion and six-time U.S. champion Todd Eldredge, two-time world bronze medalist and three-time U.S. champion Michael Weiss, 1998 Olympic gold medalist Ilia Kulik (Russia), world champion and two-time Japanese ladies champion Yuka Sato, world bronze medalist and three-time U.S. pair champion John Zimmerman, six-time Canadian ladies champion Jennifer Robinson, two-time Olympic medalists and three-time world pair champions Xue Shen & Hongbo Zhao (China), two-time World silver medalists and five-time Canadian dance champions Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon and more!
Stars on Ice: "On the Edge"
This year, Stars on Ice is "On the Edge." The skaters are Olympic athletes who will take their skills to new heights; challenging themselves, daring to be different. They do it all on the edge of a steel blade no thicker than a pane of glass. Come join us as we put the world's best skaters to the ultimate test, as they showcase their elite athletic skills while performing in an Emmy Award-winning production. They will be going to the limit to bring to the ice the best that skating has to offer. Like any high-level sporting competition, they will be pushing their bodies to the EDGE.
Performed to a broad spectrum of popular music, including a soundtrack which ranges from Beethoven to Big and Rich, Dave Kos and Celine Dion, and enhanced by intricate lighting, dynamic costumes, cutting-edge choreography and state-of-the-art technology, all brought together by three-time Emmy Award winner Jef Billings, Stars on Ice will show you all of the possibilities, and all of the ways in which sport can truly become entertainment.
Stars on Ice is an IMG Production. Executive producer is Byron Allen. Emmy Award nominee Scott Hamilton also serves as a producer. Three-time Emmy Award winner Jef Billings returns as director and costume designer. Cindy Stuart is choreographer, and Errol Reinart is lighting designer.
